Description

Body sherd of a large storage jar. The vessel was handmade with a smoothed exterior. The fabric is the classic Middle Kingdom Marl C used for the production of so-called "Zirs". The inclusions consist of semi-decomposed limestone, coarse quartz, and pink-purple pellets of unfired clay. The break has a wide grey core with bands of salmon pink on either side.
