Description

A Ptah-Sokar-Osiris figure for Lady of the House Tasen[...], daughter of Horbes and Lady of the House Ptahirdis. This figure has a green face and the body is painted to represent bead netting. It has a broad collar and a wig with fillet. The stump of the headdress remains, as does the stump to which a base would originally have been attached. Such items were placed in graves to ensure that the deceased achieved an afterlife. Ptah, Sokar and Osiris were all gods of rebirth. This example dates from the Late Period, most likely the Twenty-fifth to Twenty-sixth Dynasty.
