Description

Black stone mould. 97x61x28mm. For a collection of stone moulds and suggestions as to what they may have been used for see Lacovara et al. 2001. 'The Collector's Eye....' p99-101. Plant motif on one side, four shallow holes and one elongated hollow in the middle on the other side. Formerly the property of Mansoor Abd Essayid purchased by Wellcome in 1934.

Other Identity
(circular label) | 243555 (a wellcome card with the number 243555 was found seperate from the object. Miss Borer's notebook at the Wellcome Institute seen by Graves-Brown seems to describe this mould (it is the correct size and is associated with lot 52). The notebook describes Wellcome items from the sale at Sotheby's in October 1934.)
