Description

Pale blue faience object, tubular with horizontal dark stripes. Possibly a lamp feeder, although it is similar to the faience jars in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (33.1.25 and 34.1.170) which are dated to the late Middle Kingdom. There is also a complete example in the National Museum of Scotland (A.1951.233). It is also similar to the miniature faience bottle at Durham (EG6433). This object appears to be broken at the top (at the end adjacent to the serrated label). Purchased by Wellcome at auction in 1922 from the MacGregor collection, lot 188.
