Description

The standing light green faience amulet of Taweret with a suspension loop at the top. Broken and repaired. Taweret was a goddess who took the form of a hippopotamus, and protected women in childbirth. It was donated by Mrs Cox. This had belonged to her father, Edward Cox, who brought it from Egypt around 1903. He had been a valet for Lord Dynever.
