Cylindrical pottery jar of red fabric with flat base and rolled rim. The vessel is cracked and a s small fragment is missing towards the base. The jar is currently being held together by a piece of wire. Such vessels date from the Predynastic to the Early Dynastic Period. Excavated by the British School of Archaeology in Egypt at the site of Tarkhan during the 1911–12 season. The object was gifted to the University of Wales, Aberystwyth by John Bancroft Willans, a subscriber of the British School of Archaeology in Egypt, who received the object in 1912. Subsequently gifted to the Egypt Centre in 1997.
