- Description
-
A fragment of linen decorated with a hieratic script and with drawing of Re-Horakhty on a throne holding a was sceptre. The vignette above is taken from Chapter 1 of the Book of the Dead, which often accompanies the text of Chapter 15 (hymns to the rising and setting sun). The deceased is standing with his hands raised in adoration before Re-Horakhty with a table of offerings between them. Three obelisks are behind the deceased. The vertical column of hieroglyphs to the right of the obelisks identify the owner as the God's Father, Beloved of the God, with his name perhaps being read as Ahmose. The object was part of the 1906 Rustafjaell Collection.
