Description

Wooden headrest, top section only, split underneath on socket. Purchased by Wellcome at auction in 1928 from the collection of Charles Tabor. Such headrests were used for resting the head while sleeping. The shape of the headrest cradling the head paralleled the 'akhet' hieroglyph sign of the sun rising on the horizon.
