Description

Black stone stela with three figures with a sun disc and two uraeus serpents. 12.6cm high. Figures are mummiform, with long wigs and slender proportions (Late style?), though central figure has large ears in Middle Kingdom style. Head of left-hand figure may not be human, and wig appears different (multi-stranded). Right-hand figure's face is damaged below eyes. All three figures have hieroglyphs covering front surface from chest to knee or ankle level. Damage to upper-left surface may be ancient, since sun disc and serpents appear to be displaced right from the centre in order to avoid the damaged area. Reverse of object is gently rounded, and base slopes, so probably designed either to be held in the hand or to lean against a vertical support.
