Head of a king in relief
Sandstone relief depicting the head of a king facing to the right. Carved in raised relief, the king appears to be wearing the blue-crown, although something else is present on top. An uraeus is shown on the brow of the head. Traces of blue paint on the surface. This is probably a fake. Purchased by Wellcome in 1934 from the collection of Mansur Abd el-Sayyid Mansoor.
Anonymous. 1996. The face of Egypt: Swansea Festival exhibition: 5 October 1996–5 January 1997. Swansea: Glynn Vivian Art Gallery. [Cat. 2, wrongly numbered W836]
