Black stone mould. 11.5 x 8.3x1.5cm. For a collection of stone moulds and suggestions as to what they may have been used for see Lacovara et al. 2001. 'The Collector's Eye....' p99-101. Both sides have the same circular motif, but whereas the smaller one have two shallow holes next to it, the bigger has two protruding knobs next to it.

(This Wellcome label was found seperate from any object and had the words 'mould: black basalt' It could belong to this mould or any other black mould in the collection.)
