A long panel of cartonnage made of very fine linen and covered with gesso incised with designs and an inscription. Originally gilded. Several large cracks and sections of gesso missing. The lightly incised decoration is divided into four registers. At the top, Isis and Nephthys are located on either end of a funerary couch containing the body of the deceased/Osiris. Four canopic jars are located beneath the couch. Two outstretched connecting wings, perhaps representing Behdet, are located above the couch. The second register consists of alternating djed and tyet symbols (three each). The third register contains six seated anthropomorphic deities, each unidentified and with feathers on their knees. The bottom register, which occupies the lower half of the panel, contains a central column of hieroglyphs flanked by rishi-type (feather) decoration. The text identifies the owner as a man called Pahat. Purchased by Wellcome at auction in 1907 from the collection of Robert de Rustafjaell.
