Description

This fragment from an anthropoid coffin shows Nephthys kneeling in mourning. This fragment is part of the head of the coffin. On coffins and representations of the deceased, Nephthys is typically situated at the head and Isis at the foot. Coffins like this, with yellow paint on a black background date to the New Kingdom.
