- Description
-
Unfinished stone stela, 29.2cm in height. The style suggests the object dated to the early Eighteenth Dynasty (c. 1550–1400 BC). At the top, in the lunette (curved part of the stela), is a shen-sign with a wedjet-eye each side. Below this the second register the deceased man is shown seated on the right. Facing him to the left are three standing women. In the bottom register we see two men holding lotus flowers to their noses. This shows the family and/or servants making offerings to the dead man. The object has the remains of a circular paper label on which '1366' is written. This is probably a lot number from the auction of the item. "Medinet Habou" written on the side of the stela.
